Composition of wire rope

The steel wire of the steel wire rope: the steel wire material includes carbon steel or alloy steel, which is made by cold drawing or cold rolling, and the steel wire has a circular or shaped cross section (T-type S type Z type). Special-shaped cross section steel wire is mainly used in the production of sealing steel wire rope, which has high tensile strength and toughness.

Rope core: rope core includes steel core and fiber core, fiber core includes natural fiber core and synthetic fiber core, natural fiber core such as sisal, jute, cotton, etc., synthetic fiber core includes polyethylene and polypropylene filament. The natural fiber core can store more grease to lubricate the wire rope and extend the service life of the wire rope.

Wire rope grease: In the process of wire rope twisting, grease is sprayed, mainly to lubricate the wire rope and slow down the wear of the wire surface. In addition, the grease can isolate the surface of the steel wire from the oxygen in the air, which can inhibit the oxidation rust of the steel wire rope.

Types of wire rope

① According to the material classification: carbon steel wire rope, stainless steel wire rope.

② Classification by surface state

Phosphating coated wire rope (Chinese patent) : referred to as phosphating wire rope, wire phosphating film weight 3-60 grams/square meter, after phosphating twisting before the wire is not cold drawing processing, direct twisting strand rope, steel core and wire rope, phosphating film can improve the surface of wire wear resistance, corrosion resistance. Because the phosphating coating makes the surface of the steel wire more wear-resistant, and the phosphating film is not conductive, it can improve the corrosion resistance of the steel wire at the same time, the service life of the phosphating steel wire rope is 2-3 times that of the smooth steel wire rope, and the fatigue resistance of the steel wire rope is greatly improved.

Smooth wire rope: after heat treatment and cold drawing of raw materials prepared on the surface, the wire is no longer directly twisted into strand rope, steel core and wire rope after any surface treatment.

Galvanized steel wire rope: including hot dip galvanizing and electric galvanizing two methods, galvanized layer of steel wire protection belongs to anode protection, galvanized layer thicker corrosion resistance is stronger.

Plastic coated wire rope: The outer surface of the wire rope or the outer surface of the strand is coated with a certain thickness of plastic, including polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane, etc.


③ According to the method of wire rope laying

Single strand rope: also known as single twist rope, made of wire, twisted around a central silk or hemp core, can be twisted to make one or more layers of wire.

Double twist rope: composed of double strands of rope around the rope core (steel core or fiber core) twisting, can be twisted into a layer or multiple layers of steel wire, is the most widely used wire rope.

Three twist rope: the double twist rope is twisted around the core of the rope. It is mainly used for coarse steel wire rope with a diameter of more than 60mm.


④ According to the contact state of the wire inside the strand rope

Point contact wire rope: the diameter of the strand steel wire is the same, the lay Angle between the layers of steel wire is the same, the lay distance is different, the inner and outer layers of steel wire cross each other, showing point contact.

Wire contact wire rope: the lay distance of each layer of steel wire in the strand is the same and the twist Angle is different, and the inner and outer layers of steel wire contact each other on a helix, showing the line contact state. Under the same conditions of use, the service life of wire contact wire rope is longer than that of point contact wire rope.

Compacting type wire rope: originally known as surface contact wire rope, wire rope twisting process, after forging, drawing, etc., the contact surface between the steel wire is formed, including rope compaction, rope compaction and rope double compaction.

Sealed wire rope: the outer layer is made of shaped steel wire, including T type S type Z type section structure of steel wire, smooth surface, good wear resistance, compared with other types of wire rope of the same diameter, the tensile strength is larger, and can withstand transverse pressure, but poor flexibility, more complex process, high manufacturing cost, commonly used as a bearing cable, such as cable crane and cable on the overhead ropeway.
